Greetings!
Joy to you and yours! I hope that your summer is going well. It seems to pass by so
quickly as fall is approaching. Some of the August mornings on the farm feel fresh out of
mid-September. The cattle love the cooler weather. I can always tell that they are excited
during the chilly mornings.
This month I celebrate seventeen years of sobriety. Seventeen years! I am thankful
everyday that Spirit came to me seventeen years ago and said that I had a choice between
the light and darkness. As I’ve said so many times before, all I knew was pain and shame.
I was afraid of the light because I’d never had it in my life. I didn’t know what it meant!
So, despite my fear and shame from my past choices, I began the journey inward and to
my own light. In choosing the light, I set myself on the path of healing and the path of
authenticity. For seventeen years I have walked that long and winding road to
authenticity. I am not done yet!
Now I am being called to guide others on the journey of self-discovery and self-awareness.
Seeing that fall is approaching, I’ve decided to offer two evening groups,
Monday night and Wednesday night, at my Downtown Wausau office. I wanted to offer
two opportunities for gathering during the week. My intension for these groups is the
same: to assist individuals in keeping on the path of authenticity, self-discovery, and self-awareness.
We all desire enlightenment and freedom from our conditioned thought. It does not come
easy, as we in the ego-mind would like to believe. It is indeed a difficult path. Just like
the slow drip of the coffee pot, as I like to say. It took years to create all our layers of s**t
and it takes time to work through it, release it, and expose our greatness underneath.
I encourage you to consider including one of these weekly gatherings as part of your
Spiritual practice. Both groups start at 6:30pm and go until 8:30pm. We’ll set the tone of
reverence and respect, but also throw in a little fun to boot! Humor goes a long way! We
tend to spend so much time being very serious in day-to-day matters. It’s okay to loosen
up a little bit now and then.
Also, I wanted to mention that I’ve decided to use the name Surya (sir-ya) Wellness
Center for my business as it evolves. Surya is Hindu for “the Supreme Light”. Surya is
the Hindu god that represents the Sun. To me, “the Supreme Light” is found within our
hearts and is exposed when we learn how to put aside our old habits of conditioned
thought.
This quote from Herman Hesse says it best: "There is no reality except the one contained
within us. That is why so many people live such an unreal life. They take the images
outside them for reality and never allow the world within to assert itself.”
Blessings! Steven
